Hello!
I'm Rebekah, a BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist
I have worked in mental health for over a decade now, in the NHS, charity and private sectors. Being a therapist isn't always easy but it is always a privilege. I am passionate about helping people to feel better and live well. I am so glad you've found me, so let's get started!
Where did the name 'Overthinking therapy' come from?
So many people tell me in their first session that they have spent a long time thinking about therapy before reaching out to arrange it. When I first started in private practice I spent a long time thinking about the name so 'overthinking' therapy felt fitting! The type of therapy I am trained in (CBT) aims to reduce any overthinking that you're finding problematic.
The technical bit...
Not everyone is interested in the technical bits, you probably just want to know whether I can help you. I totally understand. However, I would always encourage anyone reaching out to a therapist to do their research. Never be afraid to ask about a therapist's qualifications or experience. I will always answer your questions about this. Here's a summary of my qualifications, experience and expertise: I have a postgraduate diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and I am fully accredited with BABCP (this is the accrediting body for CBT therapists). You can find details of my accreditation on the CBT register here: https://portal.babcp.com//therapist/register?keywords=calderwood My BABCP number is 180121. You can find the standards of conduct, performance and ethics I must follow here: https://babcp.com/about/who-are-babcp/our-policies/standards-of-conduct-performance-ethics/ I have worked in mental health since 2013 and been a qualified CBT therapist since 2018. I also have a top up qualification in clinical supervision for CBT therapists and in CBT for long term physical health conditions. During my work in the NHS I worked in primary care with clients over 16 years old experiencing depression and/or anxiety disorders such as Social anxiety, Panic, Generalised Anxiety, Health anxiety OCD, PTSD, phobias. I also worked with people with long term physical health conditions such as chronic pain, chronic fatigue, IBS, COPD, diabetes, heart disease. My work in an NHS talking therapies service helped me gain experience with different client groups such as perinatal clients- those experiencing peri or post natal anxiety and/or depression. This includes birth trauma. In my work in charity and private sectors I have also worked with younger people. I am passionate about people getting evidence based treatment and accessing the right help at the right time. This means that if I do not think I am the best person to meet your current needs, I will signpost you to a service or person who can.
