
What is CBT?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a type of evidence based talking therapy that explores how our thoughts, feelings and behaviours connect to each other. When we start to understand this cycle it becomes easier to find ways to break it and dissolve any barriers standing between you and where you would like to be.
What sort of problems can CBT help with?
CBT can be useful for a large range of problems. NICE guidance recommends CBT across a number of different anxiety and mood disorders. The below list is not exhaustive. In many of the cases below CBT is working directly on the problem however for long term physical health conditions such as chronic fatigue, chronic pain, IBS, COPD, diabetes- CBT is not aiming to cure these conditions, rather CBT aims to alleviate any anxiety or low mood surrounding (or being caused by) these physical health conditions and improve quality of life.
